Bryan Post (some call him Brian Post) is one of America’s foremost child behavior experts specializing in Adoption and Foster Care children (Post himself was in foster care and adopted). Founder of the Post Institute for Family-Centered Therapy which specializes in working with adults, children and families who struggle with issues related to early life trauma and the impact of trauma on the development of the mind body system. A renowned clinician, lecturer, co-author and author of nine books (including Beyond Consequences, Logic and Control, The Great Behavior Breakdown and From Fear to Love), and more than twenty-five video and audio programs, Bryan has traveled throughout the world providing expert treatment, consultation, and post-adoption support to a variety of groups.
 
Post has worked in the trenches for the last 15 years with children in the “last resort” category, as well as training parents and professionals in a new paradigm of parenting based on the theory he calls The Stress Model™, which he describes as a love-based parenting model that surpasses the traditional approaches of time-out, consequences, logic and control. Post states that we must move beyond consequences, logic and control, which are all fear-based parenting approaches if we are ultimately going to create healing for our children and the future generations. Post explains that the traditional approaches of behavior modification, reward and punishment, and consequences, etc. are based in a fear and dominance model which only jeopardizes that parent-child relationship. And according to Post, “Once you’ve lost the relationship, you have lost everything”.

Encouraging parents and professionals to take on a radical new understanding of difficult children and understand just how "not in control” these kids are when they misbehave, is the goal of everything we do at the Post Institute. Children’s control and manipulation tactics are not what they seem in most people's view. When they do occur, they are in the best interests of the child's survival because of the fear they carry inside. Most adopted and foster kids fall into a category of trauma, which leaves them very vulnerable to acting out and challenging behaviors.

Bryan Post currently lives in a small town in Oklahoma with his wife Kristi and their family where he enjoys reading, napping, and sitting on the back porch watching the birds and the leaves dance in the wind.
